Ratha & Alagu Kavadi

  • Devotees carrying Ratha or Alagu Kavadi must appoint an accompanying person (aged 21 or above) as their Kavadi representative. Both the Kavadi bearer and their representative will be responsible for the conduct of their group.
  • Both the Kavadi bearer & the representative to fill in the details on the website and must visit the temple within 3 days from the date of booking with their identification documents and SGD 100 to complete the registration.
  • Devotees carrying Ratha & Alagu Kavadi must enter Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple (SSPT) via Race Course Road, Gate 2.
  • Devotees must arrive and leave Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple (SSPT) by their chosen time slot (AM/PM).
  • All Kavadis must leave Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple (SSPT) by 5:00pm and arrive at Sri Thendayuthapani Temple (STT) by 11:30pm on Thaipusam Day.

Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple — Entry Routes

  • Gate 4 (Behind Vinayagar Sanctum) → Families, Females, Elderly & Differently-abled Devotees.
  • Gate 2 (Race Course Road) → Male Devotees Only.
  1. Kavadis arrive via Race Course Road. Unload kavadi along Race Course Rd and enter via Gate 2 of SSPT. Trucks to exit Race Course Road via Rangoon Road.
  2. Entry into SSPT via Gate 2 and verification of kavadi ticket.
  3. Proceed to the Kavadi Assembly Area within the temple/car park to set up kavadi.

  4. When ready to leave for STT, proceed to queue.

  5. Obtain kavadi tag near Sri Anjaneyar sanctum.

  6. Kavadis exit via SSPT Rajagopuram and Main Gate to join procession route.

Sri Thendayuthapani Temple — Entry Routes

  • Rajagopuram → Main Entrance for Paal Kudams (Milk Pots) & Kavadis.
  • Gate 2 → Alternative Entrance for Paal Kudams (Milk Pots) only.

  • Gate 5 → Arch Entrance for STT Prepared Paal Kudams, Eldery and Differently-abled Devotees.
  • Clemenceau Ave → New Path for Public & Non-participants

  • At STT, kavadi bearers will be guided to dismantling area.
  • After dismantling, the representative must provide:
  1. Kavadi bearer’s particulars
  2. Slot number
  3. Vehicle number collecting the kavadi
  • Vehicles are allowed into the loading area only when the kavadi is ready for collection.

On Saturday, 31 January 2026, from 6pm onwards, there will be road closures along Tank Road and Clemenceau Avenue towards Penang Road to facilitate Thaipusam Festival 2026. In addition, there will also be road and lane closures along:
 

  • Race Course Road
  • Penang Lane
  • Handy Road (between Orchard Road & Penang Road)
  • Orchard Road
  • Penang Road
  • Prinsep Street
  • Selegie Road
  • Serangoon Road

Motorists are advised to follow the directions of road signs and Police Officers on-site.
