Festival Overview
Thaipusam is a sacred day of prayer and thanksgiving.
Devotees may visit Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple (SSPT) and Sri Thendayuthapani Temple (STT) to offer prayers, observe the procession, and seek blessings.
The procession begins at SSPT on Saturday, 31 January 2026 at 11:30pm, and the doors at STT open at 12:05am on Sunday, 1 February 2026.

Silver Chariot Procession — 31st January 2026
- The Silver Chariot carrying Sri Murugan will leave Sri Thendayuthapani Temple at 5:00am and stop at the following locations:

- Gate 4 (Behind Vinayagar Sanctum) → Families, Females, Elderly & Differently-abled Devotees.
- Gate 2 (Race Course Road) → Male Devotees Only.
Sri Thendayuthapani Temple — Entry Routes
- Rajagopuram → Main Entrance for Paal Kudams (Milk Pots) & Kavadis.
Gate 2 → Alternative Entrance for Paal Kudams (Milk Pots) only.
- Gate 5 → Arch Entrance for STT Prepared Paal Kudams, Eldery and Differently-abled Devotees.

Festival Etiquette
Do’s
- Dress modestly and respectfully.
- Follow directions given by route marshals and volunteers.
- Keep the temple premises and public areas clean.
- Be considerate of other devotees, especially the elderly, young and those carrying kavadi or paal kudam.
- In the procession path, give way courteously to those who wish to pass.
- Walk with steady pace and keep the procession orderly.
Don’ts
- Do not consume alcohol, smoke or vape anywhere within the procession route or temples.
- Do not crowd or block the procession route.
- Do not interrupt or slow down the procession.
Health & Safety
- Thaneer panthals (water points) and medical points are available all along the procession route.
- If unwell, approach a route marshal for assistance or go to the nearest medical point.
